What's New in Week 2!?
Our second week of teaching in San Ignacio has been so great!! We have finally started to get into the swing of things and picked up a little bit of a routine while being here. Every morning we wake up at 7am to prepare for the day! Connor and Lauryn take a 35min walk to school every morning and Chantal and Abby take a 20 minute bus along a beautiful river. This week Connor and Lauryn taught puberty and sexual responsibility. Once the students got their giggles out about puberty they loved learning about these topics. After two lessons on puberty we split the classes up into boys and girls; Connor did boy talk with the boys and Lauryn did girl talk with the girls. This was a great opportunity for the students to ask amazing questions and also allowed Connor and Lauryn to become closer with the students. We participated in Sports Day on Wednesday where the students beat us easily in every sport! Chantal and Abby taught puberty and stress! Puberty was a big hit with the classes as they were eager to learn and asked tons of questions!! It's a great feeling knowing he students are engaged and curious about the lessons we are teaching! After teaching we were able to play some outdoor games with the kids! Needless to say, they certainly love their soccer... I mean football! This week however was cut a little short. Both schools had field trips in all classes on various days. Connor and Lauryn were lucky to be able to join Eden on their school trip to Toledo where they drove 6 hours and were able to see two Mayan ruins and learn a little more about the history of Belize. This week, Friday was also Teachers day so there was no school for the students! Although our week was a little short we got to teach some great lessons!! We are finally settling into our little guesthouse in San Ignacio and have found our favourite restaurant and ice cream shop - which we basically go to everyday! Why change something that's not broken, am I right??? Anyways, we are looking forward to our last week in San Ignacio and can't believe how quickly these last couple weeks have gone! Xoxo your primary palsP.s. Here's a HUGE shoutout to all the mothers out there on this Mother's Day!! Cheers to you and all that you do 💕
