Next stop: Pickle Lake!
Good Morning from Thunder Bay!!I know we said the next post would be from Pickle Lake, but we just had such a wonderful day yesterday we wanted to share! We woke up bright and early, and left the Lapp’s beautiful home in Huntsville! We are so grateful for their incredible hospitality. After enjoying a great breakfast we filled the tank and took to the open road.With Katie behind the w
heel we were cruising to Sudbury, singing along and playing Meg’s favourite childhood game ‘20 questions to name that Disney character’. After a short stop at the Big Nickle we allowed Sam Smith, Hozier and Taylor Swift to lead us to Sault Ste. Marie where we stopped for lunch.From the Sault, we became absolutely enthralled by the scenery along Lake Superior. We feel so fortunate to live in such a beautiful country and to be spending the next several weeks up North.
Luckily we found a great ‘Sceneic Lookout’ spot and were able to pull over to stretch our legs on the ice! Photos below are from Alona Bay, Lake Superior
We filled up the tank again in Wawa, stopped for dinner in Marathon and then WE SAW A MOOSE!! It was enjoying a drink of water right along the highway. After passing a hundred ‘watch for moose’ signs and practicing our authentic moose calls all afternoon we were THRILLED to actually see one!
Following the moose excitement we enjoyed a sunset drive for the final leg of the journey into Thunder Bay. Absolutely stunning views around every bend, and we found another scenic lookout point to capture this beauty.
We’ll be sad to say good bye to Katie and Megan at the airport this afternoon, but we are also SO excited for them to travel Webequie, and are so happy we’ve had them with us from Kingston to Thunder Bay.
