2 weeks already!

Hello again!We can't believe we've been here for two weeks already! Time is just flying by here in Pond Inlet.  We have just about finished our second week of teaching! Each week we teach 4 lessons to 5 different classes in Junior High as well as some to the High School students. We've been busy teaching substance use, smoking and alcohol to the grade 7, 8, and 9 classes. We also had the chance to talk to the grade 5's and 6's at Ulaajuk Elementary School about hygiene and substances. We visited the Health Centre earlier in the week where we got to meet so many amazing people! They provided us with many incredible resources that we are so excited to use in our upcoming Sexual Health unit. Next week we will begin talking about healthy relationships, contraception, and STI's. We hope to continue visiting the Wellness Mentoring Program at Ulaajuk Elementary after school a couple days a week and join in on some after school sports at Nasivvik as well.The weather this past week has been absolutely beautiful! It’s been so warm (getting close to 0!) and some of the snow has even started to melt. After school, we’ve been keeping busy by lesson planning, exploring the community, and watching lots of hockey! We might not always have the best wifi connection up here, but we never miss a Sens game! GO SENS!We are incredibly grateful to everyone in the community for being so welcoming and supportive during our first two weeks in Pond Inlet.
