Welcome to Yellowknife!
Howdy, everyone! After leaving Toronto bright and early this morning, and with a quick stop in Edmonton, we have successfully arrived in Yellowknife! We arrived at our accommodation and were greeted by the most friendly and gracious host, Faith, who helped plan our day here. We had an awesome day exploring Yellowknife, making time to check out the heritage centre, taking some photos at the iconic Pilot's Monument lookout, taking a walk on the frozen Slave Lake, and we even checked out Yellowknife's own Shoppers Drug Mart for a few last minute forgotten items!Tomorrow morning, after a quick grocery shop, we'll be getting a ride to Fort Providence with one of the teachers from Deh Gah School. In Fort Providence as Peer Educators, we will be teaching physical, mental, and sexual health as well as facilitating outreach events in the community. We have worked very hard over the last 7 months preparing lessons and working with our wonderful Program Directors and fellow Peer Educators. We're beyond excited to begin our initiative and meet all of the students, teachers, and community members! Thanks again to all our family and friends who have supported us thus far. We'll be making blog posts here weekly over the course of our initiative to keep everyone updated on what we're getting up to, so make sure to check it frequently!
Until next time!Jonah & Nadia
