Several sunburns later...
Week 2 has come to an end for Team Primary!! It's hard to believe that we only have one more week left in Corozal. With Lindsay, the missing puzzle piece, finally here, we feel like a completed puzzle. Our P.D, Laura, left to go home on Monday and we miss her tons! This week was a shortened week, due to Labour Day on Monday. Lindsay and Bianca taught drugs and substance abuse, hygiene and mental illness, all of which were extremely engaging. They also had the opportunity to teach physical education to the kindergarten classes twice this week-also a blast to teach! They're extremely excited to teach their last couple lessons next week and spend more time with the students!
Sam and Sierra had another amazing week teaching. The standard 6 class finished their testing on Tuesday so they were able to teach in their class this week which was great! Our lessons this week included drugs and substance abuse, healthy active living, bullying and self-esteem! All the kids continuously participate so well in our lessons which makes teaching a breeze! Sam and Sierra also got the wonderful opportunity to go with Paraiso Government school to watch some of the girls we teach dance in the Corozal Festival of Arts. Not only did the girls do an amazing job, but we also got to see skits, watch dances and listen to songs all focused on Belizean culture. The girls looked awesome in their costumes and taught us the dance at school the next day!
Yesterday (Saturday) we had our first community day!! We told the students at Concepcion R.C (Linds and Bianca's school) on Friday that we would be at the school field on Saturday morning with activities. Community days provide an opportunity for us to the get to know the kids and them to get to know us outside the classroom. We brought soccer balls, nail polishes and bubbles. It was a fun and relaxed way to interact with the kids and have fun apart from the activities in lessons. We're excited for our last week here in Corozal with more lessons to teach and opportunities to spend time with the students! We also want to wish a Happy Mother's Day to our beautiful mothers at home in Canada! Lots of love,Belize Primary
