Countdown to Project 2012

In October we hired eight enthusiastic and competent Peer Educators to teach in Belize this spring. There are four teachers for each of the Secondary and Primary Schools Projects. We have been practice teaching the lessons and fundraising in preparation for May all year long. Everyone is really looking forward to meeting arriving in Belize, meeting our partners at the Ministry of Education and getting into the classroom and working with the students. The next (and final) two weeks before project are the most busy, but also the most exciting! With classes finished and exams soon coming to an end, we will be practice teaching, preparing lesson materials, and packing in any spare time we find.

Our schedule has been finalized and almost all schools confirmed! A number of changes have been made to the project this year. Most significantly, we will be spending 2 weeks in each district in stead of one. This year, the Primary Project will be going to Toldeo, Belize and Cayo, and the Secondary Project to Corazal, Cayo and Belize districts. Next year we will be teaching in the districts we did not reach this year. Additionally, the Primary project will be spending an entire week in the schools, as opposed to give-or-take one day as in previous years-- which is an incredible opportunity!

We could not possibly be more excited!!! 13 Days until Belize!
